Hello everyone...
I am finally here in Wuhan China.
We are just trying to get settled in and get things in order before school starts next week. The school has set me up with my own studio apartment. It has a bedroom, an office, a very small kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. It is not the cleanest or nicest but I'm sure it will grow on me. I do not have Internet in my apartment yet so I cannot upload pictures. We are using the school computer lab to send emails. But the past few days we have just been wondering the school and the town trying to become familiar with our surroundings.
The school is bigger than I imagined. The campus looks like a university and it is equipped with a stadium, basketball courts, volleyball nets, and an Olympic size pool! There is about 5,000 students enrolled in this school. And I recently found out some good news that my class sizes will only be about 50 students each instead of 75-100.
There are not any big stores in walking distance but the downtown is about 3 miles away. We went into town yesterday to get some pillows and sheets for our beds. Boy oh boy was that interesting. I was trying to explain to the sales person that the sheets she had picked out for me were too rough...and I wanted something softer. The best part is that bargaining here is practical. She told me a price and I shook my head and said, "Bou how"...which is "not good" in Mandarin...she started to follow me and told me a price I wanted to hear...It was quite entertaining.
Anyways, I should go but I just wanted to send a little note to tell everyone I am OK.
thanks for remembering me,
Taylor
